How I Make Brussels Sprouts IRRESISTIBLE

This brussel sprout recipe is a great side dish for a large meal.

Its simple, it can be prepped well ahead of time and most importantly its exciting, people love it and always ask me for the recipe. So I thought I’d make a video and blog post about it.

I’ll also show you a trick that I use to keep them vibrant green, instead of that dull colour they’re famous for.

Yield: 6-8 portions

How I Make Brussels Sprouts IRRESISTIBLE

In this blog post I'll share my favourite way to cook brussel sprouts for Christmas, this recipe is simple but effective.

It can be prepared well ahead of time and simply finished on the hob in the moment, for a fresh, tasty and exciting way to eat brussel sprouts.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg brussel sprouts
  • 100g Walnuts
  • 1 x orange (zest and juice)
  • 100g dried cranberries
  • 50ml Olive Oil
  • A teaspoon of picked thyme leaves
  • A dessert spoon of honey
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brussel sprouts by, taking off the dry root end, removing the outer leaves and slicing in half (see video)
  2. Wash briefly in cold water then par boil in salted water for 3 minutes
  3. Refresh in ice cold water, and leave to on side to cool for 10 minutes
  4. To make the dressing, in a container combine orange zest and juice, olive oil, dried cranberries, thyme, honey and a little salt.
  5. Lastly toast the walnuts lightly in a frying pan or in the oven.
  6. At this point everything can be stored for later today or even for the next couple of days.
  7. When your ready to serve fry the brussel sprouts cut side down, in frying pan, until golden brown (5-7 minutes, see video)
  8. Add the dressing a toss together for 30 seconds.
  9. Serve straight away.

  • I made these last night to go with salmon patties and they are truly irresistible! These Brussels Sprouts are a perfect accompaniment to dryer proteins.
