Tips & Tricks

  • The milk and olive oil are known as dough enrichments, these help to make the dough softer and more delicious once cooked, but they could be left out completely and just water could be used for a more simple dough.
  • When kneading, the dough will seem too sticky don’t be tempted to add heaps more flour because its sticking.  Try to keep the dough moving and knead through to develop the gluten, in turn the dough will become less sticky during this process.

  • Rest the dough for around of 30 minutes, this helps with the rolling and the texture of the final bread.
  • When rolling turn the dough one 6th at a time, if you do quarters then you will end up with a square shape.
  • Have your grill, skillet, pan on a medium to high heat, this dough burns easily because of the enrichments.

Welcome to my quick flatbread recipe! This easy and delicious recipe is a perfect addition to any meal. Whether you're looking for a quick snack or a base for a sandwich, this flatbread is a great option. It's made with only a few simple ingredients and can be cooked in just a few minutes. This recipe is also very customisable, you can adapt it with your favourite herbs and spices to give it a unique flavour. So let's get started and make some delicious, homemade flatbread!

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 4 minutes
Additional Time 30 minutes
Total Time 9 minutes

Ingredients

  • 200g Plain flour / All purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 120ml Milk
  • 35g Extra virgin olive

Instructions

  1. In a bowl combine flour, salt, milk and olive oil.
  2. With a sturdy spoon mix until you have a rough, shaggy looking dough.
  3. Knead the dough for 2 minutes until smooth, then roll it into a cylinder, cut it into 4 evenly sized pieces and press each dough ball flat onto a sheet tray. Cover with another sheet tray, damp towel or cling film (plastic wrap) for 30 minutes.
  4. Dust your work surface with flour and using a rolling pin, roll the dough out until it’s around the thickness of a penny.
  5. Cook the dough on a dry hot grill, skillet or even a frying pan for 2 minutes (or until you see bubbles forming evenly on the surface of the dough), then flip and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes on the other side.
  6. Optionally brush with garlic butter and enjoy.
